History & Aromatherapy
  • Lavender is a derivative of the Latin word lavare, which means, “to wash.” It was a ritual-bathing herb in Roman times, and in the 12th century St. Hildegard von Bingen became widely known for her healing lavender water. In a nutshell, lavender is calming. It can balance the central nervous system, is unusually soothing and uplifting, and can even alleviate anxiety, depression, and stress. It is also helpful for headaches and even used to assist in the relief of insomnia. It can help lower blood pressure, balance the blood sugar, and assuredly ease minor aches and pains.
